HMS Pluto Mural

The HMS Pluto Mural is located close to the intersection of Jalan Ong Saik and Jalan Taming Sari (formerly Main Road), on the right wall of the Bee Poh furniture store.

The mural was commissioned as part of Taiping’s 150-year anniversary celebrations and commemorates the signing of the Pangkor Treaty in 1874, which formed the legal basis for the formation and naming of the city of Taiping. The treaty was signed aboard a Royal British Navy steam frigate named the HMS Pluto.
