Taiping Syariah Court (Mahkamah Syariah Taiping)

The Taiping Syariah Court (Mahkamah Syariah Taiping in Malay) is a courthouse with jurisdiction over cases where a breach of Islamic law has occurred, as listed under the Islamic Family Enactment (Perak) 2004.

The courthouse hears trials from cases within the district of Larut, Matang, and Selama, whereby

• the maximum fine incurred by an offender does not exceed RM3000, 2 years imprisonment, or both,
• the value of a matter in dispute does not exceed RM3000, or whereby a monetary value cannot be estimated but the dispute does not involve claims for child custody (hadanah), grants (hibah), wills (wasiat), waqaf (wakaf), vows (nazar), trusts for deceased, Islamic affairs, and trusts for non-deceased (amanah khairat dan agama, amanah bukan khairat), custody of a minor’s property, or marital property.

Operating hours:

• 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, Mondays to Fridays.
• Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
