Rumah Orang Besar Jajahan

The Rumah Orang Besar Jajahan is the official residence of the Sultan’s appointed representative in the administration of state affairs, Islam, Malay customs, and the welfare of citizens in the district of Larut, Matang, and Selama. The title Orang Besar Jajahan (or OBJ for short) has existed in some form or other since the 18th century in Perak, and at the time of the early history of Taiping, was known as the Orang Kaya Mantri.

Historically, this was the house built by the British in 1893. It has been the official residence of the Orang Besar Jajahan since 1899.

The Rumah Orang Besar Jajahan is stop number 19 on the Taiping Heritage Trail.

The current Orang Besar Jajahan is Y.A.Bhg Orang Kaya Menteri Paduka Tuan, Dato’ Haji Wan Mohd Isa Bin Dato’ Haji Wan Mohd Razali. He is a direct descendant of Long Jaafar.
